Dakar, June 4 (APS) – The La Poste group is called upon to “redesign” its service offerings and “constantly improve” the quality of its services to face the many challenges it faces and to renew itself, he said. recommended the Minister of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital Affairs, Alioune Sall, Tuesday in Dakar.

“To respond effectively to this renewal, it is imperative to overhaul the service offerings and constantly improve the quality of services,” he suggested during a visit to the general management of the La Poste group.

The services of this national company must be “reliable and adapted to the expectations of the populations”, said Mr. Sall, before talking about the challenges facing the postal sector.

He mentioned “the decline in traditional mail volumes”, but also “the increased and bold competition from private sector players and the growing demands of users”.

According to the minister exercising government supervision of the La Poste group, the modernization of the services of the said company “requires continuous digitalization [et] relevant”, which would make it possible to “regain customer trust”.

He called for “the relentless pursuit of digital transformation.”

Alioune Sall believes that the modernization of La Poste must “encompass a review of processes and the way of working”, so as not to be limited to the integration of new technologies.

Mr. Sall considers that “to fully engage in this dynamic of transformation, it is essential for the La Poste group to adopt a proactive approach and to be much more aggressive in the market”, “the many challenges” facing the national company finds itself confronted with, in its eyes, “so many opportunities to seize, through an overhaul of the model”.

The new general director of the La Poste group, Maguette Kane, welcomed the visit of the responsible minister. He spoke to her about the difficulties of the company he runs, saying that it “is going through a critical moment in its history”.

“It faces several fundamental challenges due to the scale of technological changes experienced by the postal sector,” noted Mr. Kane.

He suggests putting in place “innovation strategies in order to develop modern postal services, adapted and accessible to all users at all times”.

Maguette Kane assures that La Poste “is perfectly positioned to support economic players, in particular young entrepreneurs and artisans, in conquering foreign markets, thanks to its network and its presence on the national territory”.

He thinks that “digital transformation appears to be a major challenge to take on to reconquer new market shares”.

Ibrahima Sarr, a staff representative of the company, called for “an audit” of the structure “to take the full measure of the depth of the evil that is plaguing it”.

Mr. Sarr at the same time asks the authorities to ensure the “regular payment of salaries” and the “resizing of staff”.

He also demands “advances on salaries during religious festivals and the start of the school year, and even loans”.
