Three people were injured by pyrotechnic devices before and during the Swiss Football Cup final on Sunday, Bern cantonal police said. The event was generally calm.

The arrival and departure of Servette and Lugano supporters took place mostly peacefully, the police emphasize. In their march towards the Wankdorf stadium, fans of the two clubs lit smoke bombs, pyrotechnic devices and firecrackers.

Before the start of the match, a person who was not participating in the FC Lugano supporters’ march was injured by pyrotechnic devices. The man had to be admitted to hospital. Two people were also injured by pyrotechnic devices within the stadium itself and had to receive treatment.

Seven people, including four young people, were arrested due to the use of pyrotechnic devices and another for theft, said the cantonal police. An investigation was opened into the firing of pyrotechnic devices and material damage.
