Following a pre-electoral public agreement, the Socialists gained a majority with the centrist list of Jean-Paul Van Laethem (LE). A rise to power which results in two aldermanships and the presidency of the CPAS. The social action center was given to El Mahyaoui and the first aldermanship to the head of the list Karima Souiss. But the second position of alderman was finally awarded… to the fifth best score on the list, namely Lara Thommès (317 votes), daughter of the former socialist mayor Michèle Carthé. A petition launched

The same evening, not wanting to block the PS’s rise to power in Ganshoren, Abderrahim Cherké still signed the presentation documents with the idea of ​​contesting the appointment of Lara Thommès subsequently. A petition has also been launched in support of Abderrahim Cherké.

Contacted this Friday, future alderman Karima Souiss defends herself by assuring that “the only legal and legally binding criterion for being an alderman is to be included in the act of presentation signed by the majority of elected municipal councilors from the new coalition formed.

The socialist recalls that “Mr. Cherké signed the acts of presentation of all the aldermen, including that of Mrs. Thommès who is just as legitimate to occupy this position. Democracy also means respecting the choice of newly elected municipal councilors.” For her part, Lara Thommès supports the words of Karima Souiss and adds: “my designation allows the municipality to be managed by a joint college.”
