The conflict between Ukraine and Russia has been going on for two and a half years, and despite the difficulties encountered on the front, Volodymyr is particularly counting on the support of his allies. However, Ukraine is producing more and more ammunition to fight Vladimir Putin's men.
The Ukrainian president welcomes the help of the allies, both financially and military, with the delivery of American F-16 fighters and French Mirages, which can help kyiv protect its skies. But Ukraine is banking more and more on “homemade” and Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the country was producing nearly 20 Bohdana self-propelled artillery units per month, reports the Kyiv Independant.
An advantage on the battlefield
After his visit between Ukraine and the Nordic countries, the president made this announcement this Wednesday, October 30 in a video speech. “The Danish model allows us to attract funding from our partners in Ukrainian defense production. For example, we are now manufacturing almost 20 units of ‘Bohdana’ artillery per month, with strong progress in other areas”he declared.
Denmark is a crucial ally of Ukraine and helps the Ukrainian defense industry to increase its production by financing, in particular with Russian assets frozen by Europe stored in Danish banks, underlines Kyiv Post. Volodymyr Zelensky wants to be optimistic for the future. “There is more to come: shells, equipment, drones – everything we need. My gratitude goes to everyone who is helping us”he said in his video message.
But in concrete terms, what is the howitzer produced in Ukraine used for? From its exact name, the 2S22 Bohdana of 155 mm caliber is a howitzer which is placed on a truck. The latter has a range of up to 42 kilometers. According to the media Corii Slateit would weigh 28 tonnes, but would have an advantage over towed cannons.
Indeed, just after firing, the Bohdana can be moved very easily, which makes it much less vulnerable than the towed ones.
