Avenue Jean-Claude Cayrel, but also rue de Grelot will be affected by road repair work in preparation for the arrival of the Tour de France in Villeneuve-sur-Lot.
Would you mind having a little more? As we mentioned recently, the center of Villeneuve-sur-Lot is seeing the number of road projects multiply. If some are coming to an end, like the route d’Agen or the rue de Fraternité, others are about to start, this is the case of avenue Jean-Claude Cayrel – the route de Casseneuil –, which will see construction equipment arrive this Monday, June 3.
Indeed, road repair work is planned until June 14, on this D242 but also on part of the D442, rue de Grelot. It is via these two roads that the Tour de France riders will pass on July 11, before heading towards the Allées Georges-Leygues.
This work was budgeted for €527,000 by the departmental council, which is responsible for the financial burden. They are part of the additional investments of the Department of Lot-et-Garonne (projected envelope of 3 million euros), mobilized outside the Roads and Daily Travel Plan, to host the Tour de France in the best conditions in July 2024. This project will be carried out by the company Eurovia under the management of the Infrastructure and Mobility Department.
This vast road repair project will be carried out under alternating conditions and with a closed road. A diversion will be put in place for road users:
- For cars and public transport: via rue de Marès, rue André Berger and avenue de Paris,
- For heavy goods vehicles: via the D242, the D216, the N21, the route de Paris and the route de Las Piétat.
Around ten days of disruption are therefore expected for this route which is particularly frequented by motorists from Villeneuvois.
