Sweetsburg Manor passes into the hands of Manuel Tadros

The story began more than a year ago when Manuel Tadros’ niece, Nicole Tarazi, a businesswoman, was browsing a website. The family was then looking for a place to “have family parties”.

“At the time, I didn’t pay too much attention because it was big. But a few months later, she sent it back to me and I saw the beauty of the place again,” says Mr. Tadros.

He was quickly charmed by the bedrooms, the living room, the dining room and the reception room. Additionally, each of the bedrooms contains its own bathroom.

It was then that he was visited with his family. It was enough for them to buy.

“The region is magnificent! We are very in love with the manor!” assures Mr. Tadros.

On April 15, 2024, the family quartet therefore became owners of the premises.

“We bought the manor with the aim of keeping its original vocation, of making it a B&B.”

Having a hostel has always been a dream for Nicole Tarazi, but according to Mr Tadros, she felt she was still too young yet.

“She always said to herself that she wanted to have a Bed and Breakfast, but it was a little too early for her. She was thinking of doing that later, but the opportunity was great, and the desire was there. The admiration for the place was there and all the stars aligned between the four of us,” explains Mr. Tadros.

The manor is now operational and it is already possible to stay there. It is Madga Tadros who is in charge of its general management.

Music programming

A new project could see the light of day in the fall, that of presenting shows twice a week in the reception room.

Through humor, classical music, poetry, jazz or even conferences, the artists could be from the region or even be friends of Mr. Tadros. The program promises to be varied.

The events will be open to the public and the reception room will be able to accommodate between 50 and 70 people.

“We want people from the region to come. That the people of Cowansville find a nice place to go, once or twice a week, with friends to attend a show.”

People can also rent the mansion for weddings, birthdays or special events.

A little history

Sweetsburg Manor is a Victorian inn built in 1875. It is named because Sweetsburg was a neighboring village of Cowansville which was named in memory of Gardner Sweet, one of the first inhabitants of the territory.

The village was located approximately three kilometers from Cowansville and was officially annexed in 1964. It is, today, considered a district of Cowansville.

It was a man named Ernest Racicot born in Montreal in 1835 and who lost his parents at a very young age who built the manor.

He settled in Sweetsburg in 1859.

In 1875, he built the magnificent Sweetsburg residence that we know today.
