A 28-year-old Comorian, suspected of the murder of an 18-year-old with a stabbing weapon in Nevers (Nièvre) over the weekend, was indicted and imprisoned, the city's prosecutor's office said on Monday. This Saturday around 1 a.m., on the banks of the Loire, the victim who was riding a bicycle received a stab wound to the right shoulder. Despite the rapid intervention of emergency services, the young man, originally from Mayotte, died on the spot.
The suspect was indicted for “murder in a state of legal recidivism” and placed in pre-trial detention, specified Anne Lehaître, prosecutor of Nevers, who had described the facts as “murder by a person acting under the obvious influence of products narcotics”. The suspect is from the island of Anjouan in the Comoros archipelago. “Already convicted in Mayotte, he did not have a valid residence permit,” the magistrate further indicates.
According to her, it is “not established” that the two men knew each other. “It was more of a one-off dispute that evening between the 28-year-old man and a group of young people and a few words exchanged in Comorian with this young person,” she explained. At the scene of the events, traces of blood on the ground made it possible to “go back to the exact location, a few meters away, where the fatal blow had been given to him”, according to the account given by the prosecution in a press release.
The testimonies of several people present on the scene made it possible to identify and arrest the suspect, “still close to the crime scene”. The Auxerre interdepartmental judicial police services (SIPJ) were jointly responsible for the investigation.
