Blue fever, an incurable illness!
In this friendly report from the France 3 Nouvelle-Aquitaine teams, journalists went to meet paloumayres from Dordogne, at the heart of the palombière season which runs from October 1 to November 20 in this department. The team of reporters did not hesitate to climb more than ten meters to share for a few hours the passion of a team whose palombière is located in the town of Liorac-sur-Louyre, not far from Bergerac . This is where Hubert, the owner of the palombière, Jean-Pierre and Alain (who is the mayor of the small neighboring town of Rouffignac-de-Sigoulès) will tell us about the terrible illness that has struck them every year for several decades, blue fever!
From year to year, emotions that do not weaken
If our paloumayres will detail some explanations on their techniques and the regulations which prevail for this type of hunting. The size of the trees, the strategic positioning of the decoys, the complex system of strings and pallets to activate them or even the obligation to shoot “on the ground” will be discussed on this occasion. But above all it is passion, almost obsession, which dominates the look and words of these crazy hunters for this emblematic game of the southwest. Between fascination with the bird and almost brotherly friendships, our hunters will experience, for several weeks, these moments of strong emotions with a delight that does not weaken despite the years.
