Media: Journalist Abdou Diaw officially launches his magazine ”Le marche”

Journalist Abdou Diaw officially launched his specialized magazine on economic and financial issues on Saturday, May 25, 2024. It thus aims, with its monthly “Le Marche” accompanied by the information site “lemarché.finance”, to “contribute to the promotion of economic and financial information”.

“We operate in a context where economic and financial information occupies a central place in the functioning of markets, businesses but also governments,” underlined the promoter of “The Market”.

Abdou Diaw added that in financial markets, economic and financial information is an extremely important commodity. “It is even a formidable weapon insofar as it constitutes an essential element in the decision-making of actors,” he said.

According to him, investors pay particular attention to a reliable economic and financial press, which can help make decisions regarding transactions (…).

For Dr Diaw, who also has a degree in economics, a precise understanding of the economic situation – which is essential for formulating effective public policies – requires a dynamic economic and financial press.

It is in this regard, he explained, that he tried, with his team, to set up the magazine ”Le marche” and the information site www.lemarché.finance, with a also present on different social networks.

He said he hoped that these materials would contribute “modestly” to raising the economic debate in Senegal and to strengthening its presence in the treatment of economic issues in the media.

According to him, “our economic and financial press still has a way to go, if we compare ourselves to English-speaking countries where financial information seems more dynamic”.

He nevertheless noted that in Senegal, “the land is far from being a desert”. Indeed, he indicated that professionals whose courage and tenacity he salutes have launched themselves into the economic press.

He cited titles like The Journal of the Economy by Dean Bira Guèye, Reussir Business by the late Baye Dame Wade, Performances, Les pages eco du Nouvel horizon, Lejecos by Ismaila Ba and Financial Afrik by Adama Wade.
