On the occasion of the All Saints’ Day vacation, the Mayenne gendarmes carried out a series of checks on the department’s roads. “This system, deployed throughout the departure weekend, is part of a national strategy aimed at preventing dangerous behavior and reducing accidents, which traditionally increase during this period,” present the soldiers who set up “a worrying assessment” of this three-day operation from Friday October 18 to Sunday October 20, 2024.

Phone and speeding

They noted 9 speeding violations and fined 5 drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol and 7 others for drug use. Fourteen motorists were also penalized for using the telephone while driving.

The gendarmes warn that road checks “will continue to be reinforced until the return from vacation” and call for “everyone’s responsibility and to be extra careful, particularly during periods of high traffic.”
