This Wednesday, May 8, four residents of a residence in Triel-sur-Seine were transported to hospital following carbon monoxide poisoning.

Four residents of a residence in Triel-sur-Seine (Yvelines) were treated by emergency services on the evening of Wednesday, May 8, following carbon monoxide poisoning. The use of a barbecue in an apartment was the cause of this accident.

Two women, seriously intoxicated, were transported to the Raymond-Poincaré hospital in Garches. Two slightly intoxicated men were evacuated to the Meulan-Les-Mueaux hospital center (Yvelines) by the firefighters and the Samu.

Carbon monoxide, an imperceptible danger

According to firefighters, such an accident caused by a barbecue used inside a home is “frequent”. A similar situation occurred ten days earlier in Val-de-Marne, causing the evacuation of four children and four adults.

Incidents related to carbon monoxide, an imperceptible and odorless toxic gas, are common and can occur in a variety of settings. On April 30, 66 children and 4 adults from an elementary school were transported in relative emergency after the appearance of symptoms similar to carbon monoxide poisoning. If the exact causes of the incident have not been determined, it could come from a thermal karcher used as part of work carried out within the establishment.
