This Sunday, October 20, 2024, a woman died after falling into a hole that formed due to floods on a road in Ardèche.

Drama in Ardèche. This Sunday, a 58-year-old woman died after an accident in Burzet. The events took place shortly after midday, around 1 p.m. The victim fatally fell into a hole that formed after the floods of recent days, reports Blue.

Safety instructions not respected

Indeed, this week, France was affected by significant bad weather. The rivers quickly began to rise and overflowed. A large hole formed on the departmental 215 and a security perimeter was established, prohibiting pedestrian and vehicle access to this road.

However, this resident still went there and got too close and fell in. The fifty-year-old then arrived in the La river, located below and was carried several hundred meters: 400 in total, indicates the local media.

Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, but despite their intervention, the victim was found in cardio-respiratory arrest and could not be resuscitated.

Although the weather has calmed down, the risks are indeed present. The Ardèche prefecture calls for increased vigilance and compliance with security instructions, particularly security perimeters.

“The risk of landslides and the level of waterways still very high still constitute real dangers”indicated Sophie Elizéon, prefect of the department.
