A man in his thirties is seriously injured after being physically attacked by individuals in Longueuil on Saturday morning.

According to the Longueuil Agglomeration Police Service (SPAL), the attack occurred around 3:45 a.m. on Boulevard Grande-Allée, near rue Langevin, in the Saint-Hubert borough.

“The first findings showed that he would have been physically attacked by individuals who had fled before the arrival of our patrol officers,” indicated the SPAL in a publication on the social network Facebook.

“The victim was quickly treated and transported to a hospital,” added the SPAL. The man, known to our services, is currently in critical condition and we fear for his life. The nature and circumstances of this attack remain to be clarified.”

Hours later, authorities said the victim was now out of danger.

Boulevard Grande-Allée has been closed to traffic for an indefinite period. The crime scene was protected by the police.
