Yvelines: 21 years after the strange disappearance of a woman, the gendarmerie reopens the investigation

Florence Bloise-Desobry, a resident of Magny-les-Hameaux (), disappeared on February 1, 2003 after an argument with her husband. The gendarmerie and the Ministry of the Interior have just relayed a call for witnesses in the hope of reaching the end of this investigation.

A mother has not given any sign of life since February 1, 2003, the date she left her home in Magny-les-Hameaux (Yvelines). An unsolved cold case. But a twist has just taken place. The gendarmerie and the Ministry of the Interior relayed a call for witnesses on social networks, spotted 3 Ile-de-France Wednesday October 16. The family contacted the national center for serial or unsolved crimes in 2022.

She leaves with an orange backpack

Florence Bloise-Desobry, aged 39 at the time, had left the accommodation on foot around 6 p.m., in the snow, after an argument with her family. Dressed in jeans, a brown sweater and a red coat with white stripes, she had brought with her an orange backpack, pajamas, a toothbrush, a hairbrush and the book Children of the Earth. When she left, she promised her children that she would come back the next day to take them to mass. Her husband reported her disappearance to the police the next day.

An investigation was opened, during which numerous hearings were conducted, and it was closed after a year. At that time, “the gendarmerie did not have any means of video surveillance or telephony,” recalls Céline Dupont, research director and chief warrant officer at the research section. The investigation “could not succeed due to a lack of crime scenes and elements that can now be exploited”, adds the public prosecutor at the judicial court (Hauts-de-Seine) in the video.

Kidnapping and sequestration

Then, in 2011, a judicial investigation was reopened. “The investigation was still ongoing, on the charge of kidnapping and sequestration,” adds the prosecutor. The national unit for serial or unsolved crimes recently took up this case “because of its complexity: age of the facts, no crime scene, and possibly a seriality, in short, a link with other disappearances” , specifies the Nanterre prosecutor.

The gendarmerie is looking for witnesses but also the objects with which Florence Bloise-Desobry left the family home, in particular her wedding ring which bears an engraving: “François-Florence. 28.6.1986”.
