The Police Department (SPL) arrested a 14-year-old teenager in connection with threatening calls targeting schools in the city.

In recent days, schools have received threatening calls, which led to preventive confinements. These threats, which turned out to be unfounded, put the authorities on alert. An investigation has been launched.

The Odyssée-des-Jeunes, Georges-Vanier, Saint-Martin, Saint-Maxime and Poly-Jeunesse secondary schools, as well as the Laval School of Specialized Trades, have all been subject to preventive confinement in recent years. days.

The SPL and the Azimut squad arrested the 14-year-old suspect on October 17 at his home. A search was also carried out. The teenager appeared in the Youth Division of the Court of Quebec on charges of threats, public mischief and non-compliance with conditions. He remains detained and will be back in court on October 21.

The SPL specifies that the investigation continues. Patrollers will remain visible around several public places.

The police department reminds that “any person who makes a call to 911 or who initiates a false police investigation is exposed to criminal charges, from the age of 12”.
