There will be two representatives from Vannes Agglo Natation, in a month, in Chartres, for the competition which will be the scene of the selections for the Olympic Games. In addition to Emilie Rusquet in the 200m backstroke, Margaux Maurice won her ticket by achieving a time of 1’07”77 in the 100m backstroke. Although second in the final behind the Italian Zediu, she won the N2 title by one breath ahead of her three pursuers, all ranked less than three hundredths behind the Vannetaise.

A surprise for Pierret

Enough to delight his coach Guillaume Pierret: “It was not a competition that we had really prepared for. We were more in a period of work to prepare for the Brittany championships, at the beginning of July, in Brest. It was difficult to have a visual on the chances of shining, especially since there were a lot of girls aged 20 or over who were trying to get the N1 qualifications. So, it’s a real surprise to see her titled,” explains the coach.

Aged 17, the Morbihannaise was in good form, as evidenced by her nice time achieved three weeks earlier in Bordeaux (1’06”99). “She is close to her best level. She was part of the national circuit in the 200m backstroke two years ago. It’s great for her to return to that level,” he rejoices.
