An urban garden in the making

In Eymoutiers, work to create an urban garden in Rue de la République should begin soon.

Saturday October 19, and as part of the Monts et Barrages Architecture Day, this development project reusing endangered building facades to enhance the vacant interior space will be explained with a tour guide from the Pays d’ and History and Juliana Colin, architect and municipal elected official.

The guide speaker, Philippe Radonnet, will introduce his remarks with a presentation of Eymoutiers, reuse in history and its current issues. Then it will lead visitors along the path to the future construction site, passing by the former 17th century convent. e century and the collegiate church which are also being restored.

The municipal representative will finally lead the public directly to the construction site, rue de la République. This is where the facades in danger have been located since the 1980s. After decades of research and discussions with the architect of the buildings of , the site will reuse the bases and the materials which will be preserved. Their interior, left vacant, will be used to create a garden in the middle of the city, like a link between the street and the back of the collegiate church.

Practical information. Meet at 9:30 a.m. under the arcades of the town hall. Duration 1 hour 30 minutes. Free. Without registration. In case of bad weather, a screening will be offered on 4 e floor of the town hall.
