Reduce France’s deficit. Great national concern… At a time when the Finance Bill is occupying parliamentarians, the League against road violence in Calvados suggests a solution “to restrict the deficit”.
In a letter addressed to “deputies of Calvados”, its president Philippe Vayssette thus suggests “to lower the speed” on the roads. And recalls the cost of road insecurity – nearly 53 million euros in 2023 according to the Interministerial Road Safety Observatory, including 24 million euros for hospitalizations.
“An effective measure”
“Thousands of scientific studies have shown that lowering speeds on different networks (motorways, ring roads, departmental roads, urban areas) is a very effective measure, quick to implement”, he said. “The essential control can be financed by the offenders”, continues the Calvados representative of the association, who proposes, at the same time, sanctions “proportional to the power of the vehicle or the means of the driver”.
For the League against road violence, this fight “should be a transpartisan approach” and therefore instructs the deputies to transmit this proposal to high places…
