Sophie Phélipeau, for personal reasons, ended her mandate as mayor of Vieux on August 30, 2024. This decision, taken at the beginning of the year, allowed her and the municipal team to organize her succession. By-elections are notably to come.

10 members instead of the 15 required

Elodie Pasquetfirst deputy since April 15, 2024, in charge of finances and president of the Communal Social Action Center (CCAS) of the municipality, provides interim. “The municipal council of Vieux only has 10 members today instead of the 15 required by law for a municipality like ours,” she explains.

“Since August I have been the shadow of Sophie Phélipeau. I work for the Department, which has allocated me time to take care of the town hall, helped by the municipal team on whom I can count,” she humbly confides.

A mayor elected by the future municipal team

A communication in the mailboxes was sent to residents, explaining the situation as well as the procedure to follow for Viducasses who wish to apply. Of the by-elections will be organized on Sunday November 24. For future candidates, registrations must be submitted to the Prefecture of Calvados between October 30 and November 7 (4 p.m.).

This complementary by-election makes it possible to complete the municipal team which will elect the new mayor. “We know that people are interested, several have come to get information at the town hall. Within the municipal council, for the moment, there are two of us, with Christopher Stonham, ready to represent the municipality,” continues Élodie Pasquet. Vieux should therefore quickly find a mayor.
