Bad weather: at least 5 million damages in Les Fourons, around ten people will have to be rehoused

Les Fourons experienced floods on Friday evening exceeding those of 2021 in severity. The water invaded more than 300 houses.

In all, 27 people had to be accommodated in emergency shelters overnight from Friday to Saturday. For around ten of them, a long-term accommodation solution will have to be found. This figure could nevertheless still change because other residents could still ask to be rehoused if their house is ultimately uninhabitable for longer than expected, the president of the CPAS des Fourons said on Monday.

250 dryers distributed

Civil protection began distributing 250 construction dryers to disaster victims on Sunday. The municipality announced on Monday that all the dryers had been distributed and that a new shipment would arrive on Tuesday. The containers installed in Mouland to deposit waste caused by bad weather will be evacuated on Monday and four new ones will be installed.

The diversions put in place in Mouland and Fouron-le-Comte remain in force and the municipality asks everyone to respect these deviations so that the emergency services can work efficiently. The municipal authorities ensure that they monitor the weather forecasts closely and specify that they have a considerable quantity of sandbags ready to be deployed if necessary. The Oude Linde rain basin in Fouron-le-Comte is practically empty and will therefore be able to collect a large quantity of water. The civil protection pump remains on site.
