WEATHER WARNINGS COMBINED WITH HIGH TIDES: CALL FOR CAUTION

A conjunction of several impactful weather phenomenatent the department from Finistère, in a context brand by high tides (coefficients of 101 Wednesday October 16 evening, increasing to 112 Friday October 18 evening):

  • vigilance yellow rain-flood this Wednesday October 16 until 6 p.m.;
  • vigilance jaune crues on the sections of the Odet, the Laïta and the Aulne;
  • vagility jaune waves-submersion jaune on l‘entire littoral of Finistère from THURSDAY October 17 at 15 hours.

In this context, localized overflows are likely to occur at high tide times for the tides, from Thursday afternoon (5:44 p.m.) and for the following high tides (https://maree.info/92).

Faced with this situation, the prefect of Finistère calls on everyone to be extremely vigilant and to adopt responsible behavior:

  • do not approach the coastline during high tides;
  • fishing on foot is strongly discouraged given the sea conditions;
  • do not go to sea, do not get into the water and do not practicenautical activity without necessity ;
  • In flood zones, watch for rising water levels and seek safety at high points.

Reminder of necessary precautionary measures:

  • in all cases respect the safety instructions at low tide, do not venture too far, do not take any risk of getting stuck and stay away from the sea due to the waves which can cause the water to rise rapidly;
  • under no circumstances set out, on foot or by car, on a route that is submerged or exposed to swell; strictly respect any prohibitions put in place;
  • monitor rising water levels in flood-prone areas;
  • move away from the watercourses and reach a high point;
  • do not go down into the basements;
  • limit your travel in potentially affected areas;
  • provide emergency lighting and stock up on drinking water;
  • secure your property that could be damaged or projectiled by the wind;
  • adapt your driving to the weather conditions.
