A site combining reuse, recycling and waste management. In Saclay (Essonne), the Siom de la Vallée de Chevreuse a inauguratedSunday October 13, 2024, the largest recycling center built flat in Île-de-.

An eco-designed building

Open since the beginning of the month, it covers more than 6,600 m² and includes an 872 m² resource center dedicated to prevention and repair workshops as well as‘a solidarity shop.

Equipped with distinct lanes and compactors optimizing filling, it offers residents of the 21 communes of Siom* as well as local businesses wishing to deposit their waste, a additional alternative to the Villejust recycling center.

Operating in self-consumption thanks to the installation of photovoltaic panels, This new recycling center also has a green roof, hemp wool insulation and finally a rainwater recovery system.

A “local circular economy model”

This new equipment will make it possible to meet the demand which will grow in the coming years with the development of the Saclay plateau and the arrival of thousands of new inhabitants as part of the -Saclay National Interest Operation.

This project, which represents a total investment of 5.55 million euros for the Siom de la Vallée de Chevreuse, was subsidized by the Île-de-France Region to the tune of 600,000 euros and by the Environment and Energy Management Agency (Ademe) which paid 400 000 euros.

Welcoming, in a press release, an “innovative site, a true model of local circular economy”, the president of Siom, Jean-François Vigieralso evokes “one more step towards a greener and more responsible future for the south of the Ile-de-France region”.
