The weather for this long weekend

WEATHER – A beautiful long Pentecost weekend is on the horizon, for those who can take advantage of the public holiday on Monday May 20. While the weather this week has been disrupted, and the department of Moselle is placed on red alert for floods just like that of Meurthe-et-Moselle, what should we expect for the coming days?

According to Météo France, we should expect rather mixed and unstable weather again this weekend, with sometimes very heavy showers, but also periods of clearing. For your outings, you will therefore have to choose your timing carefully.

Saturday’s forecast

Saturday morning, France will be divided in two, the sun in the east, in Corsica and in the South-West, and grayness for the rest of the territory with temperatures between 12 ° C (Tarbes and Brest) and 21 ° C (Ajaccio).

In the afternoon, showers will break out almost everywhere, particularly along the Loire Valley and in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms with hail. However, they will spare the Mediterranean coast which will remain under bright sunshine. Clearings will also be expected in Brittany and New Aquitaine. Expected temperatures will be between 14°C (Aurillac) and 25°C (Ajaccio).

This Saturday, however, vigilance remains required in several departments in addition to Moselle, still in red. The risk of flooding and storms in the north-east has forced Météo-France to place Bas-Rhin and Meurthe-et-Moselle on orange alert. Before placing this last department on red alert.

Sunday’s forecast

We will observe a nice improvement on Sunday morning with predominant sunshine, sometimes mixed with mist, throughout the country, except on the Basque coast where thunderstorms are expected. From Pays de la Loire to Hauts-de-France, mist is expected. Temperatures will be between 10°C (Vichy) and 17°C (Nice).

In the afternoon, the situation evolves with showers over the majority of the northern half of the country. The north of Hauts-de-France, the west of Normandy and Burgundy-Franche-Comté will be spared. Stormy episodes are expected in the South-West. The south-east remains spared and should remain sunny despite sometimes cloudy skies.

Temperature-wise, it will be between 17°C (Cherbourg) and 23°C (Montélimar). Which is barely in season for mid-May.

Monday’s forecast

For this Pentecost Monday, the weather will still be very mixed. In the morning, rain and thunderstorms will be present in the western part of the country, sparing the northern part. The rest of the territory will be divided between clearings and cloudy skies. The minimums will be 12°C (Rouen, Reims) and the maximums will be 18°C ​​(Nice).

In the afternoon, stormy showers will increase especially south of the Loire. The north of the Loire, towards the Channel coasts, will remain more or less under the sun, between clearings and for the first time this long weekend, the gray will reach the south-east.

Expect temperatures between 15°C (Biarritz) and 22 (Chaumont, Montélimar and Auxerre).
