CAF reacted, this Monday, October 14, 2024, to the misadventure of the Nigerian national football team in Libya.
THE Nigerians, in principle, had to face the Libyans within the framework of the J4 of the CAN 2025 qualifiers. However, they remained stuck for several hours in a Libyan airport before returning home, refusing to play the match!
The CAF announces that it is opening an investigation to take appropriate disciplinary measures.
In a press release, she informs ”having contacted the Libyan and Nigerian authorities once informed that the Nigerian national football team, “The Super Eagles”, as well as their technical staff were held in worrying conditions for several hours in an airport where the Libyan authorities would have invited them to land.”
The CAF press release adds that the matter has been submitted to the Disciplinary Jury for investigation and that appropriate measures will be taken against those who have violated the CAF Statutes and Regulations.
According to several media, the Libyans only reacted.
They had suffered the same harassment when they arrived in Nigeria during the “first leg” match played as part of the J3 of qualifying for the Morocco25 CAN.
