A man was stopped on a national road in Gard at more than 230 km/h, more than 120 km/h above the authorized speed limit. He therefore left on foot while the police seized his Ferrari.
Another sports car at the pound. A man driving on the roads of Gard at full speed. On the national road linking Nîmes to Balsièges, a Ferrari 488 GTB reached around 230 km/h, while the limit was set at 110 km/h.
Arrested by the gendarmes around 6:15 p.m. this Sunday, October 13, the man was arrested near the town of Vézénobres. As a result, he had his driving license confiscated. Indeed, above 50 km/h, the driver sees his pink card suspended for three years, as well as the seizure of the vehicle. The police therefore left with the sports vehicle and the license of the driver who had to return on foot.
Increased accidents in the region
This incident is not isolated. The prefect of Gard had warned of the increase in accidents in his region. Thus, controls on the roads had been reinforced.
At the beginning of September 2024, no less than 42 people lost their lives on the roads of Gard. As a reminder, last year, no less than 1,877 people died in a road accident in France.
