In Guérande (-Atlantique), and beyond, the Guéno constructions company is well known for its real estate operations (buildings, offices, company villages, individual houses) and public works.

It has, over six decades, broadened its scope of action.

Jean Guéno, the founder

Created in 1964, at Bout de la Rue, in Guérande, by Jean Guéno, who remained active in the company until 1996, before his death in 2003, the eponymous company has grown significantly with the following generations of the family. .

“With a shovel and wheelbarrow”

Jean Gueno started his own business on October 5, 1964, with a shovel and a wheelbarrow. He very quickly added companions, to whom he was very close, René, Francis and Auguste, among the first.

Three generations

Too cramped at Bout de la Rue, the company set up in the Villejames area in 1999, first on rue de Bréhany, then at 32, rue de la Lande.

Accompanied by its children, Claude, Jean-Pierre and Christine, from 1996, then by its grandchildren Hugo, Jean-Marie, Pierre-Olivier and Arthur, gradually since 2010, the company is today active in several activities.

From home to hotels

In his speech, on the occasion of a ceremony for the company’s 60th anniversary, Arthur Guéno, grandson of Jean Guéno, lists the company’s many activities.

“Not only the construction of individual houses, but also the construction of buildings, with its prefabrication plant for concrete elements, the supply of concrete in bulk with Bétons de la Presqu’île, the recycling of rubble from construction sites which are transformed into new materials with Statera, real estate development with Presqu’île Investissement, the production of photovoltaic energy with Presqu’île Énergie Renouvelable including 800 m² of panels installed at the factory on rue de la Lande, the hotel industry with GPH and its 5 hotels (in Guérande, the Hôtel de la Cité and ÉcoNuit, in La Baule and Saint-Nazaire), in addition to two financial companies for the purchase of goods and rental of housing for local workers.

10,000 housing units

The family tradition continues with these activities which today extend to the and regions.

During these 60 years, we have built 1,000 buildings and 10,000 homes, while remaining a 100% family-owned Guérande company. There are no small customers with us.

The motto of the patriarch

“Transmission between generations happens quite naturally. This was the case for Jean-Pierre, Christine and me, in 1996, each in complementary professions, supporting each other, but also for the 3rd generation. He would be proud of what we have done with the company” confides Claude Guéno, another son of Jean Guéno, who has well remembered the patriarch’s motto: “Everything that is right will stand up”, referring to the both the verticality of buildings, but also the uprightness of men.
