A highly symbolic place for last winter's agricultural demonstrations, the Kernilien roundabout, in Plouisy (22), near Guingamp (22), was once again taken over by farmers on Monday. This gathering in the Guingamp region follows a first action, Thursday, in Callac (22), at the call of FDSEA 22 and JA 22, and responds to the national day of action, with simultaneous gatherings in Lamballe -Armor (22) and Dinan (22).
“These campaigns which are slowly dying”
In Plouisy, around sixty people responded to the call at around 9 p.m., coming from the cantons of Callac (22), Bgard (22), Paimpol (22), Belle-Isle en Terre (22). , in particular, to say no to Mercosur and demand the administrative simplification expected for months. “We are slowly starting this new cycle of mobilization,” indicated David Labbé, of the FDSEA, at the start of the evening. But depending on the mobilization, anything can happen. Young people really want to take out the trailers.”
Restored during the summer, the roundabout was once again degraded while a banner “Here it's Breiz'île, not Brazil” was displayed on the bridge overlooking the RN12 and crosses were planted in pallets, installed on the roundabout, “to symbolize these countrysides which are slowly dying”.
“The anger has not subsided”
Agricultural discontent also took hold in Lamballe, on the La Ville-ès-Lan roundabout, occupied by around thirty farmers, from 8 p.m., erecting a gallows with an explicit message (“Mercosur is killing our agriculture ), in the light of the fires of pallets and plastic sheeting. In the country of Dinan (22), from 8 p.m., nearly 80 tractors were parked at the Aublette roundabout, in the town of Quévert (22). Trailers filled with tires were driven to the Aublette roundabout to fuel a large blaze. Arnaud Lécuyer, vice-president of the Brittany Region, in charge of Agriculture, was also present.
For the moment, the mobilizations of the coming days do not yet seem defined, “but it is certain that it is only the first day”, assured Vanessa Pellé.
In front of a German car dealership
In Morbihan, around forty farmers demonstrated on Monday midday in front of the Audi dealership, Laroiseau area, in Vannes, to denounce the free trade treaty between the European Union and the Mercosur countries. “If farmers are gathered in front of a German car dealership, it is because this country supports this treaty. The cow in its trailer is the symbol of cattle against cars,” explains Julien Hamon, spokesperson for the Morbihan Peasant Confederation.
Farmers from Ille-et-Vilaine carried out actions on Monday at several points in the department. In Pacé (35), they lit a “fire of anger”, around 6:30 p.m. “We think it will slowly gain momentum,” envisages a mobilized farmer. Autumn work is ending on the farms, people will be able to free up some time. The anger has not subsided since the last mobilization.”
A dozen actions were planned elsewhere this Monday evening, according to the department's Young Farmers (JA).
