After the Barcelona-Lyon and Madrid-Marseille lines, the Spanish railway company Renfe plans to relaunch the line between Barcelona and Toulouse in 2025.
This announcement was broadcast by the Spanish Minister of Transport, on Friday October 11, 2024. This new line will pass through the Pyrénées-Orientales and therefore Perpignan. A great opportunity for the inhabitants of Toulouse, who will now be able to travel to Barcelona by train. The same goes for residents of the Pyrénées-Orientales, for whom it will be easier to reach the Toulouse capital.
One train per day
This new line, opened in 2013 then closed in 2020, should be inaugurated “in the second quarter of 2025”and will be tested between April and September, said the minister. As for Lyon and Marseille, Renfe will offer one connection per day, i.e. one train in the Toulouse-Barcelona direction and one train in the Barcelona-Toulouse direction daily, indicates the media Diari Ara. Between Barcelona and Toulouse, trains will stop at the stations of Girona, Figueres, Perpignan et Carcassonne.
