Strongman Corp Canada professional and amateur competitions take place all weekend at the Moncton Coliseum. New Brunswick athlete Samantha Belliveau was crowned the strongest woman in Canada on Friday.

This is not the first time that Samantha Belliveau has won this honor. She was crowned the strongest woman in Canada in 2021 and 2022, in addition to winning the world amateur championship in the middleweight category last year.

This is the first competition I’ve done here in Moncton since the start of my career. It’s great fun, I won, so that gives me my 4th titleshe said.

Samantha Belliveau indicates that the number of participants in competitions has increased in the province in recent years.

In 2018 and 2019, I was the only woman here in New Brunswick competing. This year, we just had the New Brunswick Championship and we had 66 athletes, almost half were womenshe emphasizes.

National Amateur Championship

On Saturday, it was the turn of amateur athletes to compete in five different events of the Strongman Corp Canada National Amateur Championship.

The professional women, on Friday evening, demonstrate the five events that the amateurs will do on Saturdayunderlines Samantha Belliveau.

Several spectators came to the Moncton Coliseum on Saturday to encourage the amateur athletes.

Alexis Dugas is one of the amateur athletes participating in Saturday’s competitions. He started training last year and this is his third strongman competition.

My cousin Julien Dugas introduced me to this. I went to see two competitions. From there I signed up for New Brunswick Strongman and it never stoppedhe says.

Since then, he has been training several times a week, with one goal in mind: to be the best in the world, we aim for the stars to reach the moon.

On Sunday, a competition will take place in which around fifty amateur athletes will attempt to break national records.
