Ziguinchor, Oct 12 (APS) – Young girls from the Ziguinchor region (south), at the initiative of the NGO Right To Play Senegal, benefited from a training session in leadership and public speaking , noted the APS.
Launched on Wednesday for a duration of three days, the session ended on Friday. It is part of the implementation of the project to Strengthen the capacities of girls through sport and play (RECAF-Jeu) of the Canadian NGO “Right To Play” Senegal.
“This activity contributed to promoting the leadership, empowerment and public speaking of girls to express their vision of the future,” said the general manager of the RECAP-Jeu project, Edouard Ndong, during the ceremony. closing of the training.
This activity, which takes place on the occasion of the International Day of the Girl, celebrated every October 11, is initiated in partnership with the Departmental Center for Popular and Sports Education of Ziguinchor.
”The chosen mentors inspired the beneficiary girls for three days. References in the fields of education, health and sport were chosen as mentors to listen and discuss with young girls who often go through many trials in life,” he said.
“Sometimes they don’t have a framework to talk about it. So, this mentoring is an opportunity for them to have reference people to talk to about their concerns and projects,” continued Mr. Ndong.
”The adolescent period is a period of turmoil and balance where girls and boys need guidance and guidance. This mentoring is a good initiative,” said the head of the Ziguinchor departmental sports service, Seydina Kâ.
In addition to the Ziguinchor region, the RECAF-Jeu project (2021-2026) also operates in the Sédhiou region. It is funded by Global Affairs Canada, to the tune of 8.67 million Canadian dollars, or nearly 3 billion 900 million CFA francs, to support the empowerment of adolescent girls and young women.
