The Salève cable car restaurant finally opens tomorrow after a long wait and a month late than the planned date. A hundred seats with a view, every weekend, from Thursday to Sunday and a challenge given the constraints of this high-altitude restaurant. A few privileged people were able to discover it yesterday in preview.

Here it is finally this restaurant. One year after its rehabilitation and the major work at the arrival station, Vertiges, that’s its name, will welcome its first customers tomorrow. 108 seats planned in the long term, but a capacity reduced by half to get around.

“We wanted to be careful with a gauge reduced by half, it is full for this weekend, and almost full for next weekend, we will quickly raise this gauge, but we want to do things well, we know that we are expected” specifies Guillaume Jacquemoud, president of the SAS Le panoramic du Salève which operates the premises.

A reduced gauge to start

Reduced gauge until the end of the month before a break in November for cable car maintenance work. Tables stuck to the windows for a 180-degree panorama. On the plate, a seasonal menu with local, cross-border products in a bistronomic atmosphere. “In the bistronomic, it is not always the gourmet prices for bistro food, we are on a local menu, homemade, seasonal, we are on a price range between 50 and 60 euros for starter, main course and dessert excluding drinks” adds Guillaume Jacquemoud.

A chef at the service of the place

The conductor is him, Marc-Antoine Colonna, of Corsican origin who worked notably with Alain Ducasse, at Fouquet’s and on board CGN boats. “We wanted a chef who would serve the place, capable of setting up a snack, raising the level with the bistronomic restaurant, and welcoming 200 people like this evening for a cocktail.”

Corporate evenings will be the economic adjustment variable for a difficult place to operate with many constraints. They were also the first customers for a private event last week, and for this inauguration last night. Canapes for an appetizer. The first customers are expected tomorrow.
