Quebec mandates CDPQ Infra for the tramway project

CDPQ Infra has accepted a new mandate from the Government of Quebec to put in place the organization necessary for the proper development of the next stages of the tramway project.

CDPQ Infra will therefore shortly confirm the composition of a project team which will bring together all the expertise necessary to ensure the progress of the mandate.

Planning the Quebec tramway project will make it possible, among other things, to establish an optimized construction schedule and begin its design. This planning will also make it possible to issue notices to the market with a view to soliciting the interest of companies with both local and international experience in the construction of major infrastructures and in the construction of tramway transport systems.

The CITÉ Plan aims to improve mobility throughout the territory of the Metropolitan Community of Quebec (CMQ). Phase 1 of this plan notably includes a new 19 km tram line, connecting the Le Gendre, Sainte-Foy, Saint-Roch and Charlesbourg sectors.

Next steps

In the coming weeks, actions will also be taken to enable the implementation of the CITÉ Plan, including the conclusion of a final agreement specifying the roles and responsibilities of the MTQ, the City of Quebec and CDPQ Infra, in parallel with the legislative changes required.

The CITY Plan

A structuring network of 35 km de tramway :

  • A 28 km line connecting the Le Gendre, Sainte-Foy, Saint-Roch, Charlesbourg, Lebourgneuf and Estimauville districts.

30 km of reserved lanes and preferential measures:

  • SRB : 3,8 G $
  • Express and frequent buses: $800 million
