The Minister of Energy, Oil and Mines inaugurated on Thursday a new 30 kilowatt Senelec electrical substation located in the Pikine district. This project, co-financed by German development cooperation and commissioned by KFW, has a total value of 24 billion FCFA for the first phase, including 5.8 billion FCFA for Saint-Louis.
He underlined the “crucial” role that the new infrastructure will play “in the transformation and regulation of electrical energy”. “This station is the culmination of a project to restructure and extend the network and distribution in nine cities in Senegal, namely: Ziguinchor, Kaolack, Fatick, Thies, Tivaouane, Mbour, Touba, Diourbel and Saint-Louis.” , he informed.
“We are marking the advent of a major project that will transform the energy dynamics of Saint-Louis,” indicated the minister. “This is a major achievement for this historic and majestic city,” he said, expressing the government’s desire to ensure universal access to energy.
