If the south of the department was particularly affected by the very heavy rains which fell on Yvelines, Wednesday October 9, 2024, the town of Chatou (Yvelines), too, was not spared.
This Thursday, October 10, the municipality takes stock and notes the stigmata left by precipitation. At 2 p.m., the municipality indicated that it had noted a subsidence of the road surface of the departmental road, avenue du Maréchal-Foch, in the Chatou direction towards Paris. Until its rehabilitation, the latter was reduced to a single traffic lane, instead of the usual two.
Threat along the Seine
By mid-morning, the City had indicated that the pedestrian paths along the Seine had been closed and prohibited from access: “As it stands, certain paths could give the impression of being passable, but this is not the case. »
“In the event of a problem at the dam or further rain, the water level on the banks would rise suddenly and wash away everything in its path. The safety of pedestrians cannot be guaranteed, the paths are therefore closed and access is prohibited. »
From Croissy-sur-Seine to Carrières-sur-Seine
This measure prohibiting pedestrian paths along the Seine applies to the entire bank going from Croissy-sur-Seine to Carrières-sur-Seine. As of Wednesday evening, the municipality of Chatou had urgently closed access to several docks (Mermoz, Mouchez, de la Nymphée and Maxime-Laubeuf) to guarantee the safety of motorists and pedestrians.
