The Hérault Prefecture announced, this Wednesday, October 9, the death of a boater in the Sète and Marseillan sector.
A second was treated as an absolute emergency.
The sea is currently very rough, with dangerous waves forming.
Due to a very strong swell on the coast of Hérault, a boater died and another was treated by emergency services in an absolute emergency, this Wednesday, October 9, according to the Prefecture of the department. The rough seas form dangerous waves, up to 2 meters, so the risk of drowning is high on the coast.
Three boats capsized
Three boats capsized in the Sète and Marseillan sector. The Prefect therefore asks boaters not to take to the sea and the population not to swim or frequent the department’s beaches.
Météo-France has placed 29 departments on orange vigilance and Seine-et-Marne on red vigilance for flood risks, this Wednesday, October 9. Hérault is, however, in green, without any specific alert while neighboring Gard was placed on yellow submergence alert.
