On March 5, it will be 17 years since the bruised body of a woman, whose age is estimated between 60 and 75 years, was discovered below the Corniche road, in Villefranche-sur-Mer, near from Nice (Alpes-Maritimes). The identity of the unfortunate woman remains unknown to this day, as do the exact circumstances of her death. On Tuesday, Interpol launched a call for testimony to identify the bodies of 46 women whose bodies were found in Europe several years ago. Among the latter, all of whom were killed or died in suspicious or unexplained circumstances, is the Maralpine victim.

The latter, white in color, measuring one meter sixty and sporting whitish gray hair, was nicknamed “the woman with the ‘Jean & Nelly’ ring” because of the gold wedding ring she wore on her left ring finger. at the time of its discovery and on which the two first names were engraved as well as the date June 25, 1990. At the time, the corpse had been unearthed in a particularly isolated and steep place in Villefranche-sur-Mer, in the middle brambles and bushes, about five meters below the road. The autopsy of the body established that death had occurred after trauma – probably resulting from a crime – four to six days before the body was discovered.

Of heavy build, the victim had a hip prosthesis (Landanger implant no. L96211C) in his left hip. The implant was probably part of a batch delivered to Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands and Italy. In addition to her wedding ring, the woman wore two other gold rings, one set with a blue stone, the other with a red stone. “Obviously, investigators looked at marriage records in the area, but they found nothing. If a person is still alive and remembers being at the wedding of someone named Jean or Nelly, this information could help identify the body.Doctor François-Xavier Laurent, manager of DNA bases at Interpol, told Bleu Azur on Tuesday. “We believe that this case is potentially criminal and therefore that there is a suspect who must be located or identified.specified the specialist.
