Maloya at 360° with the Discobole Orchestra and Christine Salem and #SessionLive by the Togolese jazz group Zangbeto.
Notre 1is guest is Stéphane Hoareau to present Kafé Gryé from the Discobole Orchestra and invites Christine Salem.
Under the direction of Stéphane Hoareau and Théo Girard, Discobole Orchestra immerses you in an electric and orchestral maloya.
Identified in the fields of jazz and world as much for their long-term projects as for the ephemeral meetings they organize (Trans Kabar, Pensées Rotatives, Discobole Parties), Théo Girard and Stéphane Hoareau, artists associated with Discobole, have been developing since for years a mixed music whose hard core is improvisation and spaces for instant creations specific to jazz of all eras. As an extension of their past experiments, they created an orchestra that resembles them and for the creation of which they invited an icon of Maloya music in the person of the Reunion singer Christine Salem. With her Maloya tinged with blues, Christine Salem traces her traveling trails, gives thanks to her ancestors, and sings of peace. She fixes you with her black gaze, a frank look, one of those who don't lie. If, according to the established expression, “ eyes are the mirror of the soul », his people tell, without hesitation, his character and his journey. The result is a unique fusion of sounds and styles, where the powerful rhythms of Maloya blend with the sophisticated harmonies of jazz. The orchestra is made up of talented musicians, each bringing their own distinctive voice to the ensemble. Together, they create music that is both deep and moving, while also being incredibly catchy and full of energy. With their new orchestra, Théo Girard and Stéphane Hoareau have created something truly special by inviting Christine Salem, music that transcends borders and genres, and which speaks directly to the soul. They managed to capture the very essence of the music, both timeless and contemporary, and make it vibrate in every note and every drumbeat. This is a musical experience not to be missed for all fans of jazz and world music.

Then we welcome the Togolese group Zangbeto for the release of the album Ezo #SessionLive
The name Zangbeto has its origins in a mask society whose mission is to protect the town and community by chasing away evil spirits at night.
The group was born from the meeting, in 2021, between three young Togolese prodigy musicians: Joachim Amouzou on piano, Honoré Dafo on bass, and Henoch Fafadji on drums, during an artistic residency led by Peter Solo of the group Vaudou Game .
Their current album project is the result of a meeting during the Togoville jazz festival between these talented Togolese musicians and the French trumpeter Félicien Bouchot. Taking advantage of their stay in France in 2023, the trumpeter invited guitarist Romain Baret to join them for a week of intensive work as a quintet.
This work gave birth to an original repertoire mixing jazz with multiple influences, as well as traditional rhythms and songs from Togo, and enabled a first tour (Sunset, Crescent Jazz Club, Altitude Jazz Festival, Périscope…) as well as the recording of the first album, organized in January 2024.
