The official presentation of the route for the 112th edition of the Tour de 2025 will take place on October 29. should once again be among the stopover towns, with an arrival on July 19 and a departure the next day.

The idyll between Aude and the Grande Boucle continues. After Gruissan, this summer, which hosted the rest day then the departure of the 16e stage, on July 15 and 16, Carcassonne would take over for the 2025 edition. Nothing has yet been officially leaked – the route will be revealed on October 29 at the Palais des Congrès in by the organizer ASO – but the latest indiscretions make the prefecture a stopover town and a starting town for a Grande Boucle which we currently know will leave on Saturday July 5, 2025 from . In Carcassonne, the runners would be expected to arrive on July 19 before leaving the next day at the foot of the Cité.

Since the beginning of the 2000s, between the Tour de France and the capital of the department, the connection has been established with an acceleration in flow in recent years. Six stage starts (2004, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2021, 2022) and four finishes (2006, 2018, 2021, 2022). “Between Carcassonne and the Tour, the relationship is lasting, I want it to be lasting, because I think that recurrence is important, essential”, explained Christian Prudhomme, the director of the Tour, in July 2002, when he was received at Carcassonne town hall, during the day off, by the chief magistrate Gérard Larrat and his deputies. And, premonitory, he responded about the date of a future visit: “Maybe not in 2023, but in the future, for sure.”

Last February, the same Christian Prudhomme, visiting Gruissan, to prepare for the arrival of the sporting event in the seaside resort in July, still spoke about the Aude tropism of the Tour in recent years. “It’s unmissable because it’s located on the road between the Pyrenees and the Alps.
