Telefilm Canada announces funding for 24 medium and large-scale film festivals

Telefilm Canada is providing financial assistance to 24 Canadian film festivals under its Medium and Large-Scale Festival Assistance Program (first round of decisions), representing a total financial commitment of $1.3 million.

Telefilm Canada’s Medium and Large-Scale Festival Assistance Program aims to financially support Canadian film festivals established for several years that contribute to the promotion of Canadian films and talent and stimulate demand for Canadian multi-screen content. .

As a partner of choice, Telefilm is committed to promoting the development of the industry and reaching audiences where they are. Through this program, Telefilm supports film festivals across the country and remains faithful to its commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in order to foster and support an industry representative of all communities across Canada. Other funding decisions will be announced throughout the year.

These funding decisions were made as part of the modernization of promotion programs, started in 2021 in collaboration with industry, to allocate funding more efficiently and transparently. As announced in September 2022, the promotion program was segmented according to the type of activity in order to better meet different needs and offer clear criteria. As part of the Medium- and Large-Scale Festival Assistance Program, internal representatives evaluated applications with the help of external experts in order to provide fair and equitable assessments.
