An 84-year-old former mayor violently attacked at his home. Guy Pettenati, the former (PCF) councilor of Chevilly-Larue (Val-de-Marle) for 25 years, was attacked this Sunday, October 6 at his home around midday.
In the suburban district of Brittany, the circumstances of the attack remain unknown for the moment. On site, shards of bottles were found. The scenario favored by the authorities is therefore for the moment that of a broken glass bottle on the victim’s head.
The octogenarian was subsequently quickly hospitalized in an absolute emergency at the CHI in Créteil. He was still there this Monday, according to information from BFM Paris Île-de-France, even though his vital prognosis is not in jeopardy.
“He’s a good mayor”
The current mayor of Chevilly-Larue went to the scene a few hours after the attack on Guy Pettenati. Emotion gripped the town of Val-de-Marne when they heard the news. “He’s a good mayor, he has always done everything for this city,” says Franck, a resident of the town we met this Tuesday morning on our channel.
While taking his dogs out, the local resident saw the firefighters, without however doubting the tragedy that had just unfolded near his home.
“He’s very well known here, everyone likes him. I don’t see why [il a été agressé]”, confides Franck again at the microphone of BFM Paris Île-de-France.
The investigation led to the arrest of a person, who spent a short time in police custody. Deemed mentally deficient, the latter was hospitalized.
The Créteil public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation, entrusted to the Val-de-Marne judicial police, blatantly for homicide of a vulnerable person.
