The town of Cottens is doing better than expected. The 2023 accounts, presented at the municipal meeting on Tuesday evening, forecast a deficit of 381,000 francs. However, the increase in income, greater than that of expenses, pushed the result for the year to a profit of 390,000 francs. In addition, all investments were accepted, in particular the change in the drinking water supply (65,000 francs) and the change in the wastewater collector (126,500 francs), both at Chemin de la Creusette, in the part of a building project.

But the Municipal Council was not free from criticism during the meeting, according to trustee Gabriel Nussbaumer. The latter explains that certain current projects required exceeding the investment credit. The executive has completed the work concerned, even if it means paying more than the voted credit. In fact, if the final amount exceeds that decided by the assembly by 20,000 francs, the Municipal Council is supposed to submit the extension of the credit to the citizens. “If we had stopped the work to put it to a vote, it would have cost even more,” says Gabriel Nussbaumer. In addition, we received the final statement at the end of the work, which surprised us.” However, he acknowledges: “We will have to work more precisely in the future.”
