Fourth suspected case of lamb killed in three months

Published today at 7:26 p.m.

A fourth case of animal abuse in less than three months was noted in Villars-sur-Glâne (FR). A lamb was killed during the night from Wednesday to Thursday in an area in the locality, “probably by one or more strangers”, announced the cantonal police.

The unknown person(s) illegally entered the Domaine Notre-Dame sheepfold. They killed a lamb that had just been born and then placed it on an access path to the main building, the press release said.

According to the first elements noted on site, the hypothesis of an act committed by one or more people is favored. However, at this stage, “the involvement of a wild animal cannot be completely excluded”, specifies the police. A criminal complaint for animal abuse, property damage and trespassing has been filed.

Two suspects arrested

This is the fourth case of abuse noted since the beginning of March. For the first three, which occurred between March 8 and April 24, the investigation made it possible to identify and arrest two alleged perpetrators aged 18 and 19, living in the region. Several animals had died, been injured or mishandled. Investigations are still underway for these three cases.

To date, no link between last night’s event and previous cases has been established.
