“The record has just been broken”: the largest duck fishing in the world takes place in Belgium

This Sunday, an original record was broken in the province of Liège: that of the largest duck fishing in the world. How many ducks were caught?

At the Wégimont estate, located in the province of Liège, it’s time to celebrate. And for good reason, a record was broken: the largest duck fishing in the world was organized!

The record has just been broken. No fewer than 20,000 ducks were put into the pond. I did not count them personally, it is a bailiff who is responsible for certifying this world record“, explains our journalist on site. “The organizers also hope to break a second record: that of the number of fishermen in the same place in one day. I can tell you that things are already off to a good start. There are hundreds of visitors“.

A charity event

Have fun, yes, but while raising money. This giant duck fishing trip – called Charity Ducks – aims to raise as much money as possible which will be donated to associations working to help children.

One more good reason for Cédric, who came to enjoy this moment with his family: “If you know how to combine business with pleasure, that’s a bonus. On top of that, I already work with children all year round, whether at school or through my sports association. It’s really a plus and it’s a good cause“.

Entrance to the area is free, but you have to pay five euros to catch twelve ducks. The money raised will be used for a good cause. The event is open until 6 p.m.
