fourth earthquake detected near in three days

A fourth earthquake in three days hit Morbihan this Sunday morning. Three other similar events had been noted near since Friday.

The earth has shaken under the feet of the Morbihannais in recent days. Since this Friday, four tremors have affected the department, and particularly the Vannes sector and its surroundings.

A first earthquake detected this Friday afternoon

The first event was noted this Friday around 3:30 p.m. and was of the same intensity as that of this Sunday, i.e. a magnitude of approximately 2.7 on the Richter scale. An aftershock occurred an hour later, still in the same area, of magnitude 2.1.

The next day, this Saturday, it was this time shortly after 6 a.m. that a 1.9 earthquake was also noted by the French Central and Seismological Bureau – National Seismic Monitoring Network (BCSF-Rénass), a again near Vannes.

If the authorities have not communicated on potential material and human damage which would have been caused by these multiple tremors, our colleagues from Ouest- indicate that a building in the center of Vannes was weakened. It was evacuated and closed as a safety measure.
