A road accident occurred this Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 3:54 a.m., on the A9 motorway, near Gallargues-le-Montueux, towards Montpellier. The incident involved two vehicles in a high kinetic collision. Gard firefighters quickly intervened on the scene, deploying 20 firefighters and 6 vehicles to secure the area and provide assistance to the victims.
According to initial information, the first vehicle was hit from behind. Fortunately, all five people on board were unhurt. The second vehicle, which caused the collision, was carrying four people. Three of them were slightly injured and were taken to the Carémeau hospital in Nîmes. The driver of this vehicle fled before emergency services arrived.
The A9 motorway was completely cut in the Orange direction towards Montpellier for the duration of the intervention.
