LAutumn has well and truly settled in with us. The trees are adorned with orange hues, the temperatures are dropping and, perhaps, you want to take advantage of this autumn weather… away from home? This is good. Many events are organized near you, this first weekend of October. Second-hand festival, dragon boat competition or even Science Festival… We offer you our selection of ideas out in the two Savoies, but also on the Ain side, from Friday October 4 to Sunday October 6, 2024.

Haute-Savoie

On the Lake side, you should be at the Marquisats nautical base this weekend. This is where the 18th will be helde edition of the Dragon Boat festival. From October 5 to 6, 2024, the largest Dragon Boat festival in , organized by the Annecy Kayak Club and Dragon Boat Attitude, will offer various events (long-distance, sprint) in dragon-headed boats, during which only arm strength will help decide between the candidates. A festival that promises to rhyme sporting exploits and good humor!

In the Arve valley, this weekend, the Château des Rubins in Sallanches is offering an event around the Vikings. “Odin aux Rubins”, that’s its name, will see the organization of several workshops such as an introduction to Scandinavian cuisine, flash rune tattoos with Svehen (from the Borderlines salon, based in Sallanches), Viking fights or even achievements in craftsmanship. Something to satisfy young and old Viking apprentices!

In Thonon-les-Bains, vintage and second-hand goods will be on trend, with the return of the Frip’n’Broc festival, from October 4 to 6, 2024. The 12e edition brings together 24 Thonnaise stores over three days. The festival, founded by the boutique Les Pépites, promises good deals for fashion aficionados.

Savoy

On the occasion of the Science Festival (national event organized from October 4 to 14, 2024), several events are planned this weekend in Aix-les-Bains and Chambéry. This year, the theme of the Science Festival is “Ocean of knowledge”.

The Eureka gallery, the scientific interpretation center of Chambéry, offers various fun and interactive exhibitions for all audiences: exploration of the planet Mars with “Forward March!” », animal species with “Animalement Vôtre!” », without forgetting the exhibition dedicated to the mountain environment, called “Espace Montagne”. For toddlers (3/5 years old), and in connection with the theme of the 2024 Science Festival, it is an exhibition called “Droplet, the drop of water”, itinerary of a drop of water through landscapes and seasons, which will be offered at Eureka.

Let’s not forget, the month of October is dedicated to the national breast cancer awareness operation, Pink October. In Aix-les-Bains, a charity and prevention event will be organized this Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Rowing beach, by various institutional and associative actors. On the program: walk around the lake, information stands run by the League against Cancer, the EVS La Marlio’zen and the Marlioz Patchwork association, or even a self-palpation awareness workshop with a practical application carried out on a bust, loaned for the occasion by the CPAM (Primary Health Insurance Fund) of Savoie. The auction of a plant provided by the Aix-les-Bains green spaces service, for the benefit of La Ligue contre le cancer, is also planned.

On the Albertville side, the Autumn Festival in the Saint-Sigismond district will be back this Sunday, October 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is organized by the Saint-Smoniens, the inhabitants of the neighborhood and will revolve around local autumn products: pressing of fresh apples from the Friday harvest, roasted chestnuts or even the sure values ​​of the Savoyard vineyard. An Alsatian meal will conclude this friendly time.

Ain

In Prévessins-Moëns, this Saturday, October 5, come and find low-priced gems for winter, with the sale of fall/winter clothing and accessories, organized by Le P’tit Bazar. A sale which will be made for the benefit of a housing assistance association, Hundred for a roof. A wide choice of clothing for women, children and adolescents, as well as various accessories, toys, books and childcare items, will be offered for sale.

In Divonne-les-Bains, the weekend will be dedicated to gastronomy, with the return of the Gourmandiv’ culinary festival. The 13e edition is being held right now, and until Sunday October 6. On the event program: master classes led by star chefs, gourmet dinner, flavor market, tastings of delicious dishes and wines. There will be something for all taste buds. The godfather of the Gourmandiv’ festival this year is Sébastien Vauxion. He was voted best pastry chef in the world this year, and is a two-star chef at the SarKara restaurant in Courchevel (Savoie). Enough to make your mouth water.
