de- – Solidarity: an exhibition in this weekend against prejudice
de-Calais – Solidarity: an exhibition in Arras this weekend against prejudice

The exhibition “Once upon a time in …” will be held on October 5 and 6 at the Arras Belfry.

The association also works on the fight against prejudice. Her plan was therefore to offer the children of the Charmille children’s home in Ste-Catherine the opportunity to meet people who we might encounter every day without really knowing them. The goal is to fight against prejudices.

Thus, 9 children aged 12 to 17 met 16 adults from Arrage that the members of the association knew. They all volunteer to tell their story which is always astonishing and full of pitfalls, no one has a completely rosy life in the end. But some have been able to overcome misfortunes and difficulties to bounce back better. There was therefore a long time of listening and recording in a small group for greater intimacy in particular.

Meet at the Belfry of Arras

Emotions were high on both sides. This immediately awakened glimmers of hope in the children and some fell in love with a story that they wanted to transcribe artistically. Thus, 16 paintings, sculptures or other forms transcribe the emotions felt and morals drawn from each story. This exhibition took the simple but effective name of Once upon a time…Arras and will be open this weekend in the Robespierre room, on the ground floor of the belfry. A short book on the magic of believing and a film of testimonies will also be offered.
