The Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honorable Mélanie Joly, the Minister of Public Safety, Democratic Institutions and Intergovernmental Affairs of Canada, the Honorable Dominic LeBlanc, and the Minister of National Defense, the Honorable Bill Blair, made the following statement:

“Canada stands in solidarity with Germany, the Czech Republic and other allies in condemning the malicious cyber campaign against the Social Democratic Party of Germany.

“On May 3, Germany issued a statement announcing that Russian cyber threat actors were behind this incident. Canada is concerned by the increase in cyber threats targeting democratic institutions and condemns these malicious activities.

“Canada is working with its allies and partners, including NATO, the European Union, the United Kingdom and the United States, to continue to promote a stable cyberspace based on respect for international law and standards of responsible behavior states in cyberspace. »
