Face to face between the wife and the mistress in “The Other”

At the Théâtricul, it is a creation about love, feelings and the feminine condition which features a wife and a mistress. An encounter as funny as it is sharp to watch until May 23.

Two women. Alessandra and Nelly, the wife and mistress respectively. As much accomplices as rivals, Mélanie Chappuis and Maria Mettral break the archetypes attached to love and the couple.

“We imagine that they will hate each other, and then they are two strong women, who both suffer in their own way. They will pick each other up and understand things,” explains Mélanie Chappuis without revealing too much. The actress, also writer of the play, explains having specially written “The Other” for Maria Mettral, after having seen her in the role of a cheated wife in another play.

“It’s extremely flattering and, at the same time, it’s scary,” laughs Maria Mettral, evoking the weight for an actress “of living up to what has been written” – What’s more when the text is dedicated to him. The actress confides that she was sensitive to this pointed text which enhances a theme often approached in a stereotypical way. “Instead of having the bad guy and the good guy, it’s a lot more complex,” she says.

“L’Autre” starring Mélanie Chappuis and Maria Mettral can be seen at the Théâtricul, from May 7 to 23.
