Between the months of July and October 2023, several series of break-ins, thefts by clandestine entry and thefts from vehicles were committed in Pays-d’Enhaut and Chablais Vaudois. The cantonal police recorded 56 criminal complaints, following these various offenses, committed in businesses, public, educational and private establishments. Complaints were also filed for property damage and fires caused in public toilets, as well as in front of a PC shelter.

At the beginning of April, the investigation allowed the gendarmes to identify eight presumed perpetrators, residing in Eastern Vaud, i.e. seven minors and a 21-year-old adult. Five of them are Swiss, the others are French, Portuguese and Bosnian. Several criminal proceedings have been opened by the Juvenile Court in collaboration with the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

In addition to the above-mentioned offenses, certain perpetrators were also guilty of violating the road traffic law, in particular for driving without a license, as well as violating the federal law on narcotics, the Vaud police informed on Monday. The eight individuals were released after their hearings, but they remain subject to criminal proceedings.
